Promoting the Gift of Caring

Have you ever made a donation to an organization and wondered if it truly made a difference? If your donations are going to Hoag Hospital Foundation, you are not left guessing. That’s because each year the foundation undertakes extensive efforts to make sure donors know how their support directly translates to better care for their community.  The foundation publishes its annual reports to donors, sharing highlights in clinical care advancement made possible through philanthropic support.

Hoag’s Nursing Impact Report was one of two I recently completed for this innovative clinical leader in Newport Beach, California. One of Hoag Hospital’s goals is to maintain its Magnet status – it’s one of only nine percent of hospitals nationwide that have attained this recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The impact report zeroed in on the many ways that donor dollars are helping Hoag achieve Magnet status, and more importantly, apply its clinical expertise to improving patient outcomes.

While each report is customized to specific scopes of work  – the other one I wrote, for example, was on community benefit  – they share one common theme: promoting the gift of caring.
